For the first time in Vamvakou, this April ETHOL, the amateur theatre group of Lakonia, presents a theatrical event based on texts from the play “Common Tale” by Elli Papadimitriou. A collection of narratives and testimonies from historic periods of Greece (1914-1975) that encapsulate the immortal art of the spoken word and fulfil the purpose of all forms of art: transmission. The focus will be on the Occupation and the events recounted by people who were imprisoned or were political prisoners.
And as the author argues: “One day, the testimonies of ordinary people will hold their place in historical research… The similarity of the incidents, as well as their variety, depict the universal, ongoing participation of the people in the struggles for their freedom, inseparable from their own lives and the aspiration that burns and urges us all to fight for peace and progress”.
