Impressed with the Vamvakou Revival initiative, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency published an extensive article in the summer of 2022.
It was the return of permanent residents and the increase in the local population that particularly intrigued the journalist covering the story. The nine permanent residents of the village in 2019 were joined by sixteen young people who returned to live in Vamvakou either for the short or long-term under modern terms, away from urban centers. As highlighted in the article, the change has already occurred, and the first signs of regeneration are evident.
