In Vamvakou, October is the month of the walnut. Fifty kilos of natural clay with lots of walnuts will be available for everyone in the village school! The game will start by discovering clay through our senses; altogether we will make a big walnut tree to adorn with elements found in nature. We will become a big team; together we will crack and eat walnuts and make up amazing stories about trees that talk, trees that fly, trees that swim, or whatever else one could imagine!
Clay: a multisensory natural material originating from the Earth, but also returning to the Earth, constituting thus one of the most environmentally friendly materials. Clay is one of the substances that men and animals first used for their creations. It is as easy to mold clay into an object as it is to destroy it. In this session, natural clay is linked to human stories. Stories and clay have one thing in common: when employing either, people can create in the same way as they can destroy. In this session, we aim to communicate, join forces, play, exercise, relax, reconcile with our mistakes, and drop the “shoulds”. Let the moment and the process work impulsively, without expecting immediate outcomes. This is how we can connect with nature and with our true self, “here and now”!
