Vamvakou Revival and the Learning & Participation Department of the Greek National Opera are continuing this year as well their collaboration, with the latter returning to the village with the educational programme “Metamorphoses” on May, 6 and 7.
The programme is addressed to primary school students and aims at guiding them around the magic world of opera through original artistic activities that stimulate their imagination and creative viewpoint. The children get familiar with great opera works and are motivated to reveal the secrets, the unapparent, what’s hidden between the lines and notes. Eventually, through their contact with a radical art that has been praising human freedom through time, the participants will be able to cultivate their critical thinking and expand their artistic horizons.
A few words about Rafi Music Theatre Company
Founded in 2012 by the musicians Anastasia Kotsali and Lito Mesini, Rafi aims at bringing out original approaches to the widely-known and little-known repertoire of music theatre. It has collaborated, among others, with the Greek National Opera, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the Athens Concert Hall, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Theatre Odou Kykladon “Lefteris Voyatzis”. Moreover, the Company has curated specials on literature and opera song and has organised educational workshops for children and seniors both in and out of Athens. During the summer of 2021, it launched Kournos Music Festival in Lemnos, which evolves around the art of singing and aspires to converse with the inhabitants of the island through multi-themed artistic activities.
