For the third year in a row, Vamvakou Revival is inviting children aged 6 to 12 years to participate in Vamvakou Summer Camp, that will take place from June, 26 to July, 14 at Vamvakou in Lakonia!
The program this year will run for three weeks and is addressed to 100 primary school children, aged 6 to 12 years, residing in Sparti and the wider area of Mount Parnon. It is a daily 4-hour program that includes several experiences in nature inspired by Vamvakou, such as group sport activities (e.g. mini soccer, handball, mini volley, rowing), dance, activities promoting motor skills (e.g. badminton, fencing, track-and-field, gymnastics, ping pong), orientation games. At the same time, numerous visual art and other art activities will be realised, as well as educational programmes designed especially for Vamvakou. The students will have the chance to participate in original and fun STEAM activities at V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF) and programs approved by the Ministry of Education – F1 in Schools, 4×4 in Schools and Robodrones Challenge by Dimitris Polimatidis.
The event will be concluded with a big celebration that will take place on July, 14 with exciting contests through the 4×4 in Schools and F1 in Schools programs, with small-scale 4×4 and Formula 1 cars in 4×4 tracks with real obstacles and straights for amazing F1 speed! This year, in the afternoon, children will also have the chance to participate in original educational, cultural and sport programs by the Field of Life that will also be at Vamvakou within the framework of Vamvakou Experience Festival, as well as in other activities and games.
The training of the sports instructors is realised in collaboration with the civil non-profit-making organisation Regeneration & Progress and the department of Sports Excellence, under the scientific supervision of the First Department of Orthopedic Surgery of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The programme is realised within the framework of the initiative for the Revival of Vamvakou, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
