Classical music in the Vamvakou yards by the Oros Ensemble

At the village alleys

How would it sound to hear melodies of flute, double bass, violin, clarinet, accordion and percussion coming from the yards of the houses as you walk through the village alleys? The Oros Ensemble, created in 2020 in Vamvakou and having already pursued their own path performing in major concert venues in Greece, return to Vamvakou for a special musical project.

One of the remarkable achievements of the Oros Ensemble, the music group born in Vamvakou as an idea of the Greek National Opera artistic director Giorgos Koumendakis, has been the relationship the young musicians have built with the locals. In recent years, classical music has become a familiar sound in the village of Parnonas and this summer, it is time to enjoy music in the yards of the residents who will open their homes to welcome visitors.

The six musicians present 6 solo concerts in different yards, charting a unique musical walk across the houses of Vamvakou. Surpassing the conventional boundaries of the spaces where one would normally expect to listen to music, this exciting musical relay race will offer attendees the chance to enjoy sounds by some of the most distinguished young Greek musicians in successive virtuoso recitals. With this call, the Oros Ensemble return to Vamvakou to convey to people the very essence of music: human bonding.

We are grateful to our fellow villagers who will welcome us to their yards. Their support has been invaluable over the years!
