June in Vamvakou is approaching with a fast “running” pace and marks the beginning of one more unforgettable summer in the village. A big sports feast in nature, a 10-day daily summer camp for the children of Lakonia, guided trekking tours, massage sessions, DJ sets with a view, as well educational, environmental and technological programmes for children and families are some of the suggestions of Vamvakou Revival for this June, within the framework of the revival of Vamvakou, realised with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Saturdays full of wellbeing and fun in nature
The story in Vamvakou is about… mountains, and, this month, the experienced team of mountain guides will accompany you in two enjoyable walks throughout the beautiful trails of Vamvakou! An afternoon trekking route to the cave monastery of Agia Kyriaki (08/09) and a trekking route to Loggous location (22/06), linking the yellow and red trails and embracing the village through the forest, while offering a view from high up. A sense of wellbeing and a feeling of detachment from everyday routine are enhanced and combined ideally with the natural ambience of the village in June through relaxing sessions of focus body massage (15 & 29/06) and delightful DJ sets while gazing at the sunset from Ruga of Vamvakou Homes (08/06) or at the starry sky over Mount Parnon from the veranda of Voureiko café-restaurant (22 & 29/06).
Technological, art and environmental programmes for children and families
The month is starting with a technological edge at V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF), featuring virtual reality and journeys in unexpected interactive worlds via Oculus Quest 2 (01/06) and one Saturday (08/06) dedicated to 3D printing, that will initiate the whole family into the secrets of one of the fastest growing modern technologies. Drawing inspiration from nature, as well as from the visual arts, we will make an artistic depiction of our surroundings (02/06), express ourselves and create our own community through multisensory play with clay (15/06), learn about the environmental footprint of humans on a planet that is sending out an… S.O.S. (22/06), as well as about the circle of life and the importance of water through an impressive Water STEAM lab (23/06).
4th Vamvakou Mountain Run
Eagerly waiting to meet in our annual running event, on Sunday 16/06 we will be participating in the most exciting mountain run – realised for the fourth time on Mount Parnon with Vamvakou, Lakonia as its starting point and finish line – by choosing one of the three routes of 28, 18 or 7 kilometres respectively crossing gorges, forest roads and trails in an idyllic and varied mountain setting. On the day of the run, our familiar Different School will keep company to children and grown-ups, who will feel like relaxing and engaging in creative activities instead of running!
Vamvakou Summer Camp 2024
For a fourth year in a row, we are organizing Vamvakou Summer Camp, from 25/06 to 04/07. It is a daily programme addressed to 100 children aged 6 to 12 from the wider area of Vamvakou and Sparti, which includes a wide range of educational, technological, scientific, sport and art activities that will take place in the school of the village. The platform for applications will open soon on a first come, first-served basis.
