January and the new year are already here! Vamvakou Revival continues to share its love for the village and rural life with visitors through its wide range of activities. In Vamvakou, each season brings its own unique beauty, with the enchanting landscape of Mount Parnon, the freshness of the mountain air, and the harmonious blend of nature and idyllic surroundings. These are combined with a variety of events, experiences, and educational and creative activities for everyone, as part of the Vamvakou Revival initiative, made possible with the exclusive grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Activities focused on nature, mountain tranquility, and fun
Let’s give ourselves the chance to reconnect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of the daily routine through different winter getaways or relaxing and fun outdoor experiences! This month in Vamvakou, you can enjoy a hike through the forest with a moderate level of difficulty to the Loggous area (January 11), or a winter visit to the cave-monastery of Agia Kyriaki (January 25), following the yellow trail which is at an easy level. For cycling enthusiasts, there’s an organized bike ride (January 18) along the mountain biking trails surrounding the village. Additionally, high-quality massage services (January 11, 18, & 25) are available by booking an appointment, and don’t miss the live music event on Sunday afternoon with the band “Tragoudaskalades” (January 19) at the “Voureiko Restaurant”, bringing you the famous and beloved songs of the rebetiko and folk repertoire.
Creative Activities and STEAM in the Heart of Winter
Although we are in the heart of winter, creativity and fun learning never fall into hibernation at the village school! Children and parents are invited to craft an exciting winter tale (January 11) from old stories and to create small winter crafts (January 12) using simple materials. Whether young or old, fans of technology and STEAM will find their interests at V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab, fully powered by SNF), with 3D printing for all (January 18) and robotics for kids over 5 years of age (January 19). The first month of 2025 will wrap up with a multisensory clay play session (January 25) and the much-loved “School… otherwise” (January 26), a fun, free program of creative play that lure both young and old for carefree play and game activities.
