November in Vamvakou, Lakonia is full of surprises

Wellness, walks in nature, warmth, and exciting discoveries for all

Autumn is about to pass the torch to winter; Mount Parnon is dressed in nature’s most impressive colors; and, once again, Vamvakou, Lakonia, gives us plenty of reasons for unforgettable mountain excursions! Rising from the green mountain slopes at an altitude of 900 meters, just a few kilometers from Sparta and Tripoli and two and a half hours away from bustling Athens, the small village awaits you in November with a wide range of events and activities realized as part of the Vamvakou Revival initiative thanks to an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Autumn, mountains, nature, serenity, and relaxation go hand in hand. So, in November’s Saturday afternoons (02,09,16 & 23 Nov), massage sessions will decompress you from everyday stress. Guided by the experienced team of mountain hikers Mountains is our Vibe, hiking from the village to the location of Loggous (23 Nov), a route connecting the yellow and the red path, will bring you closer to nature. This month, the Voureiko restaurant-café welcomes Folk Notes, a band from Sparta promising a musical journey with hits from the past and present of Greek discography.

Every weekend Vamvakou’s young visitors may enjoy exciting activities for all ages and tastes in the village school. This November children will travel back to prehistoric times (2 Nov) and the daily habits of our distant past using clay. We will create and adorn our own works with golden autumn blossoms (3 Nov), the well-known chrysanthemums, or the so-called agiodimitrakia flowers. We will learn about the value of patience through an interactive musical tale featuring “Impatient Evi” (9 Nov) and create the most impressive paintings employing shaving foam (10 Nov). Every month, STEAM programs at the V.Lab (Vamvakou Τechnology Lab fully powered by SNF) have their place. Our little visitors become scientists and play with light (16 Nov) learning through light sources easily found at home, while the entire family has the opportunity to get acquainted with technology and 3D printing applications in the lab! For the more adventurous, on Sunday, November 24, unique adventure games such as archery, capture the flag, treasure hunting, survivor games and many more will excite young and old alike at the Vamvakou School!
