The last month of spring arrives to Vamvakou Laconia and stretches out to the slopes of Mount Parnon with thematic workshops and traditions for the occasion of Easter celebration in the village. Hiking, robotics, stargazing, massages, dj sets, cooking and programs that bring the entire family together, are combined to complete a full spring program of activities proposed by Vamvakou Revival under the framework of the revival of Vamvakou initiative, implemented with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF)
Easter in Vamvakou
Easter in the village, as spoken by the wise! Vamvakou is an ideal place to spend the days of solemnity and celebration of Easter. We have prepared a program of events for the entire family from Holy Thursday to Easter Tuesday. The month starts (02/05) with the craziest Easter games at the school of Vamvakou, creative constructions, ping – pong, and Virtual Reality. Just before the Resurrection (04/05) young and the elderly make creative use of their time and paint mugs with Easter designs or participate in a fun-filled organized hike to the cave monastery of Agia Kyriaki, while on Easter Sunday (05/05) we set up an Easter Feast in the village square, with snacks, skewered-roasted lamb, cookies, red Easter eggs from the Voureiko restaurant-café and of course traditional music from the orchestra “Doric Rhythm”. The biggest spring celebration closes on Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday with two unique experiential workshops where children will encounter the “autonomous” society of a chicken coop (06/05) and become little explorers and discover the artistic side of nature through multisensory play (07/05), while adults can relax enjoying a focus body massage (07/05).
May Weekends in Nature for Everyone
Let’s go hiking … Let’s go to Loggous (11/05) because…Our Vibe is Mountains, as per our homonymous partners, one of the teams participating in the business program of the Vamvakou Incubator, who have started their activity in the village, will accompany us on an enjoyable hike for people at all levels. They say that the mountain and nature stir up an appetite, so we invite you to the Vamvakou cooking workshop [“Magirotsukalemata”] (18/05), where food tasting will follow in the sunny courtyard of the village school. During the last Saturday night of May, the astrophysicist Anastasia – Fiori Metallinou and her team, who are also participating in the incubation program in Vamvakou, will be our “guide” in a night of stargazing (25/05) to help us study, learn and recognize key constellations of the spring sky. This month, every Saturday, the rhythm is given by a different and uplifting dj set, while we enjoy the tranquility and relaxation of the countryside with a massage focused on certain areas of the body (11/05 & 25/05).
STEAM, clay play & free style play for children
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics meet at V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF) with the most exciting workshops winning the impressions of visitors. A robotics workshop (12/05) will introduce children to the basic principles of engineering and programming, while the construction of water rockets (25/05) that will be launched in the schoolyard will take them on a journey to the most important human missions in space. Freedom, contact with nature, the earth and sensory play cannot be missing from our program. This month (19/05) we explore our emotions and capture them in artworks with clay that we will be exhibited in our own “Museum of Emotions” through clay play Stories. The established School… Otherwise (26/05) where young and old can enjoy a pleasant Sunday, will end the month and bring us a breath closer to summer!
