The pandemic and the spread of the coronavirus made us all cautious, while the social distancing measures kept us apart for a while. We started thinking differently, adapting to a new situation, transferring much of our activity online, as well as realizing that we have to change habits. Some habits, though, just won’t change! So, the weekends at Vamvakou are now back.
Starting from Saturday July, 4 at 10:00, the school in the village opens its doors again to welcome the public, keeping, of course, the distances and the necessary health protection measures. This school is different from others; it is a place that people got to love a lot; a meeting point for children and grown-ups! At its heart? Culture; Entertainment; Innovation; Creative education.
Vamvakou Revival has put together a summer program full of surprises, smiles, play, twists and activities of all sorts. All the events and activities are part of the Vamvakou Revival initiative, implemented with the guidance and financial support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
And if you are wondering what should you be expecting this different – for all of us – summer, let us give an idea! Robotics, 3D printing, creative play, educational programs, theatre workshop, astro-observation, exercise, children’s – art – science workshops, music, comics festival, hiking, mountain biking, tours and activities in nature for the whole family. And there is more! Oros Ensemble returns to the village this July; young artists come along to decorate parts of the village with their murals; the music and work of Eftihia Papagiannopoulou come to play again; the books and archives of the school of Vamvakou reveal their stories; and the family tree of the people of Vamvakou comes to light and brings us closer to our roots.
Starting from the first weekend of July, we are inviting you to Vamvakou to freshen up and experience carefree moments. Join us at the school of the village to discover different aspects of our selves through an entertaining theatre workshop for children aged 6-12 years old (July, 4 at 12:00), have fun and enter the world of technology at V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by Stavros Niarchos Foundation)! In just three sessions, children (first session July, 4 at 12:00) will learn the basic principles of robotics and will have fun programming a little robot, while, in a day, grown-ups will find out what the Internet of Things is all about, how it affects the evolution of the 4th and 5th generation networks and how it is expected to change our lives. All this, with the help of the Robot-fun team and Tech4Schools of Nokia Hellas.
